Leukemia and Lymphoma Treatment
Leukemia is a group of cancers that begin in the bone marrow and result in high numbers of not fully developed white blood cells called blasts or leukemia cells. A significant majority of leukemias are diagnosed in adults, but children can be affected by different types of leukemia. There are varying opinions on what causes leukemia but inherited and some environmental factors are believed to be relevant. Leukemias and lymphomas belong to a broad group of tumors that affect the blood, bone marrow, and lymphoid system.

Leukemia and Lymphoma Sypmtoms

Treatment may include some combination of the following treatments, all of which are available in our offices: chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapy, and bone marrow aspiration. Our dedicated staff will take the time to discuss your diagnosis with you and inform you on your treatment options and their opinions on what will work best for you and your disease.
Due to the lack of normal blood cells in the body, symptoms of leukemia/lymphoma may include change in your bleeding and/or bruising, feelings of fatigue, fever and increased infections. If you are experiencing any of these signs, we urge you to make an appointment with your primary care provider who can provide an oncology referral if they see fit.
