Immunotherapy
Immunotherapy refers to the treatment of disease by eliciting, amplifying, reducing or suppressing an immune response. This requires fewer drugs and surgeries which may mean fewer side effects and potential microbial diseases. Cancer immunotherapies, as offered in our office, attempt to encourage the immune system to shrink or destroy tumors by targeting the tumor-associated antigens present in most tumor cells.

How Immunotherapy is UsedThere are many different ways for immunotherapy to be conducted in the patient whether it be removing and manipulating the T cells from a patient’s bed or using a vaccine to expose the immune system to an antigen. It’s our job as your care team to ensure that the right immunotherapy is selected and adequately explained to the patient who can then focus on remaining hopeful and getting well while we work on the logistics of the treatment.
