Colorectal Cancer TreatmentColorectal (or bowel) cancer is the development of cancer from parts of the large intestine resulting in the abnormal growth of cells which may invade other parts of the body. Most colorectal cancers are due to advanced age and lifestyle factors including diet, obesity, smoking and sedentary activity. Some inherited genetic disorders may have the potential to cause colorectal cancer however these usually start as benign tumors which become cancerous over time.

Colorectal Cancer Symptoms

Colorectal and bowel cancers may be diagnosed by colonoscopy. If you have this procedure and there was found to be cancerous cells, call us with your referral to move forward with treatment and care discussions. Treatments may include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and other targeted therapeutic options.
Symptoms may include blood in the stool, a change in the consistency or frequency of bowel movements, weight-loss and unshakable fatigue. If you are experiencing any of these signs, we urge you to make an appointment with your primary care provider who can provide an oncology referral if they see fit.
